How To Do a Life Audit with the Wellness Wheel
The wellness wheel is a fantastic way to work on your personal development goals because it covers ALL aspects of your life.
What does a wellness wheel do? It helps you to better your general wellbeing by assessing different aspects of your life and creating strategies to do more for yourself.
Not only is it a fun activity to do, but it requires you to reflect on your life and find ways to better yourself and achieve balance in life.
If you feel disorganised all the time, confused and anxious and feel like you haven’t improved in life despite setting goals ages ago, you should do this activity! Trust me!!
How does the wellness wheel work?
Think about the different aspects of your life – family, friends, finances, career etc. And create a list or wheel with them as the subheadings.
Below, I will give you examples of different things you can include in your wheel.
I really like the wellness wheel by Mona Kattan linked in the description section of her video. It was from her video that I learnt about wellness wheels for the first time and ever since then I’ve been obsessed!
Once you’ve created your wheel, think about how you’re doing in each field and rate each one out of 10.
Once you’ve rated each of them, pick the three lowest scoring areas and list down three bullet points under each of these sections with things you want to improve.
An example could be:
Self care (3/10)
- Having a morning and evening routine
- Drink more water
- Journal more
For the next 3-6 months, you will focus on bettering these three areas of your life through the mini plan/ breakdown you have created. After the 3-6 months are over, re-do the wellness wheel activity and see if you feel like you have improved.
Then, repeat the process with the new ‘lowest’ aspects of your life.
Remember, not every field needs to be a 10. If you’re comfortable with consistently getting 8’s across the different areas, that’s fine. It’s better to have balance across all aspects rather than being really happy and great at one and really poor at another.
Also, don’t neglect your high rated aspects whilst working on the lower rated aspects of your life. You want to achieve wellness across all aspects of your life in general.
